Her mother sent a tape of the pageant from Utah and more than 140 friends gathered to watch it together after the family returned home.įinch decided to participate in the Junior Miss program after hearing stories of her aunt who was North Carolina”s Junior Miss in 1976. Susan Finch said when Andrea was a junior, they had to find a local program because there was not one near them. They drove an hour and half to practices for 10 weeks.
Not only did she win the scholarship money, but Finch said she met 49 of the most wonderful girls. Among those was Julia Higgins from Vancouver, Wash., who will also be coming to BYU in the fall.
